EMERGENCY EVACUATIONS. SCHOOL CLOSINGS.
WEATHER ADVISORIES. CLASS AND EVENT CANCELLATIONS.
The need for high-priority communication channels on campus has never been clearer than it is today. Emergencies and urgent situations don’t work on a 9 to 5 schedule and neither do college administrators. With CruiserAlert™ as part of an institution’s emergency protocol, administrators can quickly and effectively react to urgent situations with swift and targeted campus safety communication. Urgent messages can be broadcast simultaneously to all students, faculty & staff via text alerts to mobile devices, email, voice messaging, and RSS feed whenever a situation arises—protecting their entire campus community.

Subscription-based School Alerts
CruiserAlert is subscription-based, which means that each institution’s administrators establish text alert channels for various types of alerts – emergency, weather, campus events, school closing, course announcements, class cancellations, residence hall, etc. Then, students, faculty and staff complete our simple mobile device activation process and subscribe to available school alert channels. Subscribers also indicate how they would like to receive those alerts.

School Alert Delivery Options:
- Email
- SMS school text alert message to a mobile device
- Portal announcement
- Voice Messaging

Public and Targeted Channels
When creating a school alert channel, administrators can designate a channel as Public or Targeted. Public Alert Channels are open for subscription campus-wide, while Targeted channels are open only to invited group members, such as emergency response teams or department members.
Administrative Ease of Use
In the event of a crisis or urgent situation, colleges can now reach their key publics quickly and directly. To activate an alert, administrators simply type a text alert message and send it via the appropriate alert channel. It is automatically sent to subscribers via the mode they previously selected -- text alert, voice, email, RSS, or portal announcement.
Real-time Reports & System Management
Administrators have access to real-time school alert reports that provide system information, alert history, and a complete overview of the institution’s subscriber and alert status.
Emergency Alert Priority
School Alert channels can be configured for high priority distribution, which ensures the most timely delivery of text alert messages to subscribers. By default, emergency text alerts are always delivered with high priority and copies are automatically sent via email to all registered users. Other distribution options are available to administrators, such as posting school alerts as announcements and publishing them with the built-in RSS feed.
Secure, Robust CampusCruiser Integration
Institutions utilizing the CampusCruiser portal benefit from the seamless integration of CruiserAlert into their portal. Because CruiserAlert is integrated into the CampusCruiser portal, with a dedicated top-level tab, college administrators can send alerts instantly and simultaneously over several communication modes without switching to another program.
CampusCruiser integration means:
- Instructors and leaders of communities at institutions can deliver critical communications to class and group members using the portal’s existing memberships.
- The school alert system is hosted and accessible via any CampusCruiser supported Web browser.
- The contact database can store notification data for all CampusCruiser users.
- Administrators can send periodic reminders to users to update their contact information
- Only authorized administrators can send alerts via their password-protected CampusCruiser portal.
- Alerts will be sent in accordance with the speed of Internet access and cellular network capabilities.
In addition, instructors and community hosts, such as bursar and registrar can send class-level and community-level alerts–ensuring the immediate communication of timely, high-priority information.
Classes and Communities
When students or community members subscribe to class- and community-level Alert Channels, they can be made aware of class cancellations, withdrawal notices, lab closings, etc. Because the communities are created and maintained through CampusCruiser there’s no additional setup required.
